Leslie Berlowitz (1944-2020) was a writer, editor, and scholar in American Studies.  She served as an academic administrator, and past President and William T. Golden Chair of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.  Prior to that she was Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at New York University.

Her most recent project, a book-length study entitled “Bernard Malamud: The Limits of Desire” is forthcoming. The Common Reader has published a version of a chapter of the book.
